Mitie are a facilities management company and one of the largest in the UK. In 2022 they launched a new initiative called the Science of Service – ‘SOS’.

Mitie’s new push on their digital technology product offering – ‘Science of Service’ – needed to build and communicate something really meaningful, both for people internally and customers externally.

Working in my role as Digital Experiences Lead at Earnest agency in London I oversaw the layout, content structure and UX of the landing page and user journey for the initiative.

THE CHALLENGE
The Mitie team had already progressed significantly with the content and detail of the landing page. My role here was about validating decisions, suggesting improvements to order for user flow, and ensuring that the layout both fitted their current styleguide, but also showed off content in areas where components didn’t currently exist.

WHAT I DID
The strategy team at Earnest had already done a large amount of work on the project details and plan for the output. I was pulled into to design lean sketches and wireframes to enable rapid prototyping and conceptualising of the landing page for Mitie stakeholders to feed in on

I have a whiteboard in my office, so always start there with postits of questions, unknowns, scribbles and ideas, until I have some idea of where I’m going after answerering as much as I can

Mitie work with Miro, so I jumped in there and sketched out V1 of my idea :

You can see my notes and explainer linking UI elements in reference to the content plan and lead gen campaign

Working with the stakeholders and our content team we evolved the landing page around some changes to layout and they requested a new site wide ‘sub nav’ which I incorporated and this is now a site wide element, as well as on the Science of Service page

They wanted to add in a CTA to view the PDF of the SOS manifesto, which led to a lead capture form. Additionally we added in some further journey content around articles, related information

REPONSIVE DIRECTION
All of the components used and suggested on the sketches exist already in the Mitie digital library platform, with the exception of the 5 key pillars component.

After scamps and sketches all approved, I mocked up a more slick refined wireframe of the landing page for Mitie and provided a mobile style with a prototype in XD for the new component with recommendation on how this should interact for their development agency.

THE IMPACT

Sales confidence in pitching the Mitie story has doubled – with a 90%+ satisfaction score for the training and new materials delivered.
